Mentor Mentors will have the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on an Elizabeth House resident and her child by being a model “mom,” adviser and friend.  These volunteers meet regularly to work through the many physical, practical, emotional and spiritual issues involved with pregnancy and parenting.

Childcare/Babysitting – These volunteers will have the opportunity to care for children during weekday classes and weekend nights on occasion.  This volunteer opportunity will enable the staff and residents to conduct and/or attend vital meetings, counseling, and classes.

Teachers – This is an opportunity for volunteers with the proper training and expertise to provide classes in topics related to pregnancy, life skills and parenting.  These classes are vital to the learning process of the Elizabeth House residents and their children. These classes would include, but are not limited to, parenting, Lamaze/breastfeeding, health/nutrition, exercise, Job training, budgeting/finance, and arts & crafts.

Office Assistance – These volunteers assist the office staff by helping to handle the many day to day tasks and special projects that are crucial to the administrative management of Elizabeth House.  These tasks and projects would include, but are not limited to the following: large mailings, answering phones, sending faxes, and typing correspondences.

House Maintenance/Repairs – These volunteers will be called upon occasionally for minor plumbing problems, installing broken/old light fixtures, and/or, aid in house repairs (i.e. fixing broken windows, house painting, etc.).  Assistance is also needed, on occasion, to do outside yard work and upkeep, planting of greenery, as needed, to maintain the aesthetic beauty of Elizabeth House.

Weekend/Recreational Assistance - These are individuals who will plan occasional weekend activities in order to help nurture residents and their children emotionally, physically, and socially through fun, friendship and recreation.

Fundraising/Special Event Assistance - This is a great opportunity for volunteers that are interested in helping with various fundraising projects, Annual/Special events and/or making significant connections in the community on behalf of Elizabeth House.

Special Needs Volunteer: - As a holistic ministry, on occasion, we have residents with special needs that require a volunteer’s aid, such as tutoring, etc.

Transportation: – From time to time help is needed in transporting residents to and from doctor’s appointments, and/or picking up donations, and moving furniture.

Organizing/Sorting In-Kind Donations: Volunteers are needed on a regular basis to keep our garage and storage bins organized and clothes sorted.  This can be weekly or as needed.

Church Liaison:

Gala Committee: This Committee is a group of women who volunteer from October through March in preparing for the annual Spring Gala Event.  This fun and exciting group works hard to plan, procure auction items, assemble invitations, create baskets, decorate, and facilitate the silent auction.  This Committee meets monthly, alternating day and evening meeting times.
