Winter’s Thaw

An inspiring musical, literary and visual journey from the icy shroud of Winter to the warm rebirth of Spring – with Soloists, Choir, Instrumentalists, Poetry and Imagery. This very special concert will feature the World Premiere of three commissioned compositions by local composers. Reception with the artists immediately following.

Proceeds from this concert benefit Elizabeth House, a Pasadena-based charitable organization that provides shelter, hope and support to homeless pregnant women and their children.

Annual Alumni Christmas Party

What an amazing day we had at our Annual Alumni Christmas Party! This year was our biggest year ever. Over 300 people attended and enjoyed a wonderful meal and a special time of connecting and re-connecting. Thank you to all the families and groups that participated in our Adopt-a-Family program by adopting our alumni. Your generous donations will make Christmas joyful for our women and their children. We also want to thank all the volunteers for giving up your time and working so hard to make this a blessed day for everyone. Without you this day would not come together so smoothly. A Special thank you goes to Mary Rice Hopkins for entertaining our families in such a special way. Our hearts were so filled with joy at the end of the day from the love we shared.

“Women of Inspiration” Workshop

What a wonderful day we had last weekend at our Alumni Workshop entitled “Women of Inspiration.” The workshop was well attended by 22 women who have been through the Elizabeth House program, volunteers, and a few board members. The alumni started off the day shopping through our donated purses from Brighton Collectibles and clothing from various local stores. After filling their bags and enjoying reconnecting with the other women, we all sat down to a wonderful brunch of fruit, blueberry bread and quiche. Our volunteer liaisons did a beautiful job of decorating and hosting each of their tables. We are so thankful for all of them giving their time and commitment in helping to provide such a special day for the Alumni. After brunch our speakers, Kaye Schneider and Danica Grier, shared their life stories with us. Even though they told two very different stories, each story resonated with the women and brought inspiration to us all. To end the day, each alumnus was given a goody bag and pictures were taken to remember the day and then they said their goodbyes.

The EH Gala Committee Needs You

Attention Women who have a heart for EH – Are you looking for a place to serve that is fun, where you can connect with other women, AND reach out to the community? The EH Gala Committee needs YOU! We are a group of women who volunteer from now until the Spring Event (March 23) to organize, plan, procure auction items, send out letters, stuff envelopes, create baskets, decorate, and facilitate silent auction for the 2012 Gala! Our meetings alternate evenings and daytime, so as to accommodate everyone. (The level of commitment and work can be a little or a lot… whatever you can do is greatly appreciated!)

Welcome Our New Babies

Elizabeth House is full of new babies right now. Ayden, our first little girl, was born to Alyssa on August 29, 2011. Ander, our first boy was born to Patricia on September 8, 2011. And then, we have the brand new twins, Lea (girl) and Vincent (boy) born to Naomi on October 13, 2011. All babies and moms are doing great. We know that God has a plan for each and every one of these beautiful babies and we are so blessed to be sharing this time with each of them.

We also want to welcome Josiah who was born to one of our alumni, Tomanisha, on August 30, 2011.
